Late October we decided it was a good idea to stay in Hotel Kaktus Albir again. Again? Yes, we've been coming to this hotel for quite some time now. The reason is that it's the only hotel in Albir that's really centralized and has a beach view. On top of that, it's also pretty affordable, depending on the season of course. That's the reason why we decided to stay in late October. (which also happens to be very quiet).
There's something magical about strolling on the boulevard at night and picking out one of the many restaurants in the area for a nice dinner. Waking up in the morning to a wonderful orange morning glow from the sun that's rising over the Mediterranean Sea, what is not to like...
Hotel Kaktus Albir is a truly unique place in that regard. The structure and rooms may feel a bit outdated, but that adds to the charm of the hotel. From our experience, the staff was very friendly and helpful.
As I mentioned before, Hotel Kaktus Albir is very centralized in the city of Albir. Many shops, great restaurants, and local supermarkets are within walking distance of the hotel. Walking around Albir at night feels very safe.
Then there's the rooftop of the hotel. The rooftop has loungers, an indoor pool, a shower area, and offers incredible views of the beach and mountains.
The backside of the hotel offers views of the mountains. (the backside of the hotel also has rooms with no balcony, and don't have a sea view. These rooms are also a lot cheaper).
From the rooftop of Hotel Kaktus Albir you can also see Altea and in the far distance Calpe.
The indoor pool is great for wintertime.
It also features an outdoor pool, which is located right by the pebble beach. As you can see, the pool is pretty narrow, but long and wraps around the front of the hotel.
Speaking of pebble beach Albir, the beach here has big pebbles which is unique for this bay. All other beaches in the area, like Benidorm and Calpe, have just sand. Make sure you bring water shoes if you want to go swimming. Otherwise, it can be quite a painful experience!
The Hotel Kaktus Albir restaurant is in the basement. Basement? Yes, in the basement. It's where breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served to the guests. Although, anyone can walk in to enjoy a nice breakfast in the hotel.
There is a nice little game room in the hotel as well. It has arcade machines, a pool table, air hockey, and even a library of books to enjoy.
There's also a gym in Hotel Kaktus Albir, but I forgot to take pictures of it :P
